The Third Generation of Heather Candles

ABOUT US
Heather Candles are created using natural materials. Kelly, the third of three generations of artisans, continues the craft. From the growing of the wildflowers from seed on the studio grounds, to foraging for the best Spring blossoms and greenery, searching for the most colorful Fall leaves to be found in the meadows and mountains of Northwestern Montana. These materials are dried, pressed, and stored to be used by the artists in the creations of our unique candles. All wicked and votive candles are hand-poured on site, with all candles designed and decorated individually. No two are alike! Heather Candles are available in many sizes including wicked, flameless and votive styles.
In the late 60’s, Heather’s mother, Cae Bornfield, an artist specializing in preserved flower art, was selling her creations to a beeswax candle factory in Northern California. She developed the idea of embedding pressed flowers in beeswax on candles. Heather, also an artist, began working alongside her. After her mother’s retirement in the late 70’s, Heather took the craft to a whole new level, opening the doors of Heather Candles in 1979. Shortly thereafter, Heather moved north, setting up shop in Whitefish, Montana. Creating new design ideas, and then distributing to wholesale accounts throughout the United States. In the late 80’s, Heather expanded the candle business, with a facility open to customers to watch the candle making process, as well as a retail storefront. In those years, Kelly, her daughter, who grew up with the art of candle making, was often on hand working at the candle factory.
In 2023, Kelly took over the Heather Candles business, and continues to produce some of the finest, artistic candles available, continuing to build on the previous generations in this unique art of candle making.
Heather Candles has been creating beautiful handcrafted candles using their singular recipe of candle waxes, finishing with pure beeswax. Our candle designs and high quality materials are unique to all others. We hope to continue the tradition for many years to come. We hope you enjoy your candle!
